Trail Overview
This is a short, fun, and easy dirt Jeep trail through a dense forest environment. The trail features sections of powdery ruts and packed earth that can be driven quickly, making it an excellent connector or introductory route for a shorter off-road blast. While the 4,500-foot elevation is lower than the high-country trails, this area may still experience temporary winter closures due to snow or mud after heavy rain or snowmelt. Always check the Sierra National Forest Motor Vehicle Use Map (MVUM) and current road and trail closures on the Forest Service website.
Difficulty
This is a Moderate trail (Rated 3) that is easily passable by any stock 4x4 vehicle with decent ground clearance. The challenge comes primarily from powdery ruts, which require attention but not technical skill. Overall, it's a fun, introductory trail.
History
This route was historically used for Forest Service access, timber harvesting, and fire suppression in the mid-elevation pine forests of the Sierra Nevada.
