Trail Overview

This is an essential, short 1.1-mile spur providing high-clearance access to a unique ridge-top viewpoint. The trail climbs rapidly through a mixed-severity 2020 Creek Wildfire burn zone, which has exposed the dramatic granite formations and opened up panoramic views. The surface is a mix of rock and loose dirt, but the primary challenge is the steep, loose climb near the end. The route culminates at a spectacular, flat granite knob that serves as an exceptional dispersed campsite overlooking the surrounding lakes and high country.

Difficulty

The R3 rating is assigned due to the short, steep final ascent, which is covered in loose rock and dirt, severely challenging traction. High clearance is mandatory to prevent undercarriage damage from exposed granite and to clear the rocky tread. 4WD is required to manage the climb and control the descent on the low-traction surface.
