Trail Overview
This seasonally graded sand route runs along one of the LADWP aqueducts as a mostly wide shelf trail. Great views emerge above of rock formations, while the valley below and mountains on the far side create layered scenery. Small ruts and deeper sand sections appear throughout, while dust kicks up constantly, making this a dusty trail that reduces visibility when following others. The shelf nature provides elevated vantage points along the aqueduct infrastructure corridor.
Difficulty
Seasonal grading helps maintain the surface when fresh, but conditions degrade between maintenance cycles. Those small ruts and deeper sand sections create manageable challenges that demand attention without extreme difficulty. The mostly wide shelf trail provides comfortable navigation room despite the exposure. Dusty conditions mean following distance matters for visibility. Airing down helps with deeper sand traction. Overall accessible aqueduct service route with scenic shelf road rewards.
