Albanita (FS 21S01) is an easy forest road that branches off Sherman Pass Road and winds through the scenic backcountry of the Kern Plateau in Sequoia National Forest. The route travels through beautiful stands of pine and old-growth aspens before ending near Jackass Meadow and providing access to Fish Creek Campground. It's an enjoyable drive for those looking to explore a quieter corner of the forest away from the more heavily traveled route. The road is generally easy to navigate in dry conditions, with sandy sections and gradual elevation changes but no significant technical obstacles. Along the way, you'll enjoy peaceful forest scenery and occasional openings with views across the surrounding mountains. Although the route is popular with mountain bikers, it's equally suited to high-clearance SUVs and stock 4WD vehicles when open. Be aware that portions of Forest Route 21S01, particularly east of Fish Creek Campground, have been periodically closed to motorized travel for meadow restoration projects.
