Trail Overview

This is a fun dirt bike trail in the Laguna Hills that mostly rides on a skinny ridge line or side-hills below the hilltops of these rugged rolling desert hills. The trail is very narrow, sometimes with a steep slope on either side of you down the mountainside. There are lots of small loose rocks in the trail, but they are packed down and easy to ride over. You get incredible views while riding the ridge line, overlooking all the mountains. The terrain feels very barren, with only a few ocotillos passing, and is mostly surrounded by rock. Although exposed, the trail is still very flowy, making for a fun ride that is less than a mile long.

Difficulty

This trail is overall pretty easy, without any major obstacles, but it is narrow and exposed for the majority of the route, making it more appropriate for intermediate riders or those comfortable with heights. The main technical element is the exposure.

Access Description

There are several dirt bike trails within the Laguna Hills trail system near Fortuna Foothills, Arizona. There isn't a formal staging area, but riders can access the trails through the system of roads north of the canal. There are a couple of parking and staging options. On the east side of the trail system, you can park at the west end of Adair Park Road and enter the trail system at the levee. There are several small camp spots along the canal on the levee road. On the northwest side of the trail system, you can also enter at the other levee (from South Laguna Dam Road), and you'll find easy dispersed camping here as well. You can also access this trail system from Mittry Lake, which is a popular spot for camping as well.
