Parque Mexiquillo Waterfall and Tunnels Trail

This is an out-and-back route, commencing from the pavement in La Cuidad and continuing on a dirt road through the entrance of Parque Mexiquillo. Once inside the park fence, a nominal fee is required, payable at the cabin indicated on the map. As you pass the intriguing rock formations, the trail culminates in a majestic waterfall, aptly named Cascada Mexiquillo. The waterfall's magnificence is at its peak during the rainy season from July through September. Beyond the waterfall, the path transitions to a bumpy dirt road, that normally would be accessible by a two-wheel drive vehicle. However, caution must be exercised while crossing the longer tunnels, as they are prone to river flooding and large rocks that necessitate high clearance vehicles with superior traction.
