Trail Overview

Oh My Muchacho is a short but highly technical 0.6-mile offroad trail in the Muchacho Mountains designed for experienced drivers seeking a challenging detour with scenic desert backdrops. Spanning just over a half-mile, this trail branches off the Padre Madre Mine Trail and plunges drivers into a rugged canyon. The terrain is defined by a steep elevation drop of approximately 184 feet down to Araz Wash, with maximum gradients reaching nearly 27 degrees. Negotiating this path requires a capable four-wheel-drive vehicle or high-clearance SxS with a technical rating of 6, as the route is heavily littered with various sized loose rocks, steep ledges, and technical obstacles that demand precise tire placement and low-range gearing. The most notable challenges include a prominent off-camber boulder obstacle that can make vehicles feel tippy and prone to sliding, alongside a tricky boulder shelf further down the route. Drivers must maintain focus as they navigate these narrow, rocky segments ranging from 600 to 790 feet in elevation before descending into the sandy bottom of Araz Wash. This trail can be run in either direction, though climbing up from Araz Wash toward the Padre Madre Mine Trail offers an even greater challenge. For a longer excursion, drivers can combine this trail with the nearby 'You Gotta Be Kidding Me Muchacho' route to keep a group actively engaged for a half-day or more in this remote desert landscape.

This has to be our hardest ride yet we teeter tottered on two wheels and rashed our wheels pinching through where a polaris pro r 4 is a bit large. If you made this one you'll leave with a battle scar. 8/10 for me for difficulty.

Pretty technical trail through very rugged mountains. Tough on tires. Nice chute to crawl through with narrow passes at both ends. Beautiful scenery. along the way.

Traversed West to East, downhill. Large rocks require careful tire placement. Expect to hit skid plate and rock sliders at times. Had to move some branches.
