Trail Overview
Goose Creek Road runs from Shepody Road to Martin Head. The trail takes you to a beautiful beach with a lot to explore. This is a single-vehicle lane gravel road with some passing areas. It has some exposed culverts, loose rock sections, water holes that span the width of the trail, and a few washout sections (all of which are 12 inches or less). Most of the time, this road is passable with a 4x4 high clearance vehicle. The road conditions vary with the time of the year; it can be soft after snow melt and rutted after heavy rain. The last 3 kilometers into Martin Head are the most technical part of the trail. It's steep with loose rocks and sometimes may have some washed-out areas and exposed culverts, which require high clearance. It's also very narrow with hills on both sides, which leaves little to no space for turning around. Cellular service is generally unavailable or very weak for most of the trail; however, most service providers have reception once you're at Martin Head. Note: Shepody Road is unmaintained in the winter and is a maintained snowmobile trail; therefore, check the dates when it's closed to vehicle traffic (typically from December 1 to April 15th). Goose Creek Road is also unmaintained. The ride is well worth it, you arrive at a beautiful sandy and rocky beach on the Bay of Fundy which has the highest tides in the world! The water level can change by as much as 16 meters (~ 52 feet). Imagine a four-story building - that's how much the water level can change! The tide goes from high to low, or low to high, in about 6 hours and 13 minutes. Be aware of the rising tides and be careful where you park your rig.
