Trail Overview

Memel Road is a scenic trail connecting Albert Mines Road to Hopewell Hill, featuring two beautiful waterfalls: Sawmill Creek and Memel. The trail is primarily dirt with some loose rock and puddles, generally less than 12 inches deep. A section of the trail is an uneven, rocky surface that is undulating (wavy/rolling). It's wide enough for one vehicle, with some passing areas. Keep in mind that this is a designated snowmobile trail, so check for seasonal closures, typically from December 1st to April 15th.

History

The Memel Quarry, located in Albert County, New Brunswick, holds a notable place in the province's industrial history, specifically for its sandstone extraction. The former Memel quarry is situated approximately 2.5 to 3 km north of Hopewell Hill, adjacent to Memel Road on the east bank of Memel Creek. It operated sporadically between 1880 and 1894.
