Description
This classic route provides easy access to the river along with plentiful open spaces and overlooks allow hikers of all skills and ages to go at their own pace. Just off of the I-90 exit 34 in North Bend, the trail is accessible for all of Western Washington. Of special note: This popular trail was closed at the beginning of 2014 and reopened in May of 2016. Heavy rainfall and erosion wiped out a key section of the trail but through the work of EarthCorps, a local nonprofit, the trail was rerouted and rebuilt so the community could once enjoy the iconic Twin Falls. This popular trail climbs steadily from the start to two stunning views of lower and upper Twin Falls. The climb is steady with a few steeper sections mixed in. You'll eventually cross the river on a bridge where you have a nice view of upper Twin Falls. From here, the Twin Falls Trail continues to climb until it comes to a junction with the John Wayne Pioneer Trail: Hyak to Rattlesnake Lake. As this is an out-and-back hike you can customize the distance and turn around whenever you area ready to head back to the trailhead.
