Description
The Wild Mustang Trail is another in the series of connected trails in the Dove Mountain area accessed from the !Wild Burro Trailhead near the Ritz Carlton. It features a pretty good amount of elevation change as the trail ascends and descends the ridge between the Wild Burro Canyon and Cochie Canyon. There are sections of this trail which are pretty rocky but the majority of it is pretty manageable. In order to reach the Wild Mustang Trail from the trailhead, you must first head out the Wild Burro Trail for several miles or you can reach it by turning of the Wild Burro Trail and ascending the steeper Upper Javelina which connects to the other end of the Wild Mustang Trail. Either way, you'll likely be making a loop, so it's good to try it in both directions. There are some nice views in a few spots when you're on top of the ridgeline.
