Description
The CEED North and South Trails begin at the parking area along South Country Road in Brookhaven, New York, on the grounds of the Center for Environmental Education & Discovery. From the trailhead kiosk—marked by an interpretive “Bee Wall”—the route first explores the short, shaded North Trail, which loops gently through a mixed hardwood forest with minimal elevation change. To reach the South Trail, return to the road and carefully cross to the opposite side; there is no formal crosswalk. The South Trail forms a slightly longer loop that winds through quiet woods and along the edge of Beaverdam Creek, where bird activity is common. Both segments are well maintained and clearly marked, making this an easy, family-friendly outing suitable for walking, birding, or snowshoeing in winter. Expect level footing, light use, and occasional ticks in warmer months. The short distance and calm setting make this a pleasant forest walk for anyone seeking a peaceful break outdoors.
