Limited parking at official trailhead. Parking is available in town (Banff). Pedestrian-friendly side streets provide a good approach to the trail.

Tunnel Mountain Trail is easily accessed from the town of Banff and is very popular with hikers and trail runners. The trail allows constant views of spectacular mountains, the Bow River, and Banff. The trail is wide and hard-packed, and is very well maintained by Parks Canada. There are some long, steady inclines, but it's worth the effort. Bring a snack to eat at the top while taking in the view. (There is no tunnel! The railroad once planned a tunnel but went around instead.)
