Description
The hike begins in the parking lot for the Mount Lougheed viewpoint. The first section of the trail is shared with the first portion of the Centennial Ridge Trail that leads to Mount Allan. At the split between the trails, the West Wind Creek Trail breaks to the west. This portion of the trail has recently been re-directed and upgraded. The trail is relatively flat for a few kilometers, and then starts to gain some elevation as you ascend the ridge. Shortly after you climb onto and along the ridge, the trail breaks above treeline and the views begin. A few kilometers above treelike is the short scramble that is composed of a few steps, about 2 to 3 meters tall. The scramble is on solid rock with lots of good handholds. The trail before and after this is straight forward, and easy to follow up to the top of the ridge, where you come face-to-face with the Three Sisters Peaks. It is easy to enjoy the summit views for an extended time and not want to leave. Those who want to extend the trip can continue past the end of the trail along the ridge as it loses elevation and heads towards "The Rimwall."
