Description
The hike starts at the Second Creek Trailhead near Berthoud Pass. The trail moves quickly upward and is wide at first, but then makes a steeper and rockier section near the tree line. Just before reaching Broome Hut, there are some picnic tables with an amazing view of the Second Creek headwall. The hut is closed to the public (can be reserved for overnight stays in winter), but you can walk around all sides of it, and continue higher up the Second Creek Trail #137 if you choose. It leads eventually to Mount Nystrom Trail #13 in the Vasquez Peak Wilderness.
