Righter Mine Loop

This loop hike is located in Farny State Park. From the parking lot at Split Rock Reservoir, walk out to the gravel road turning left and walking a short distance to where a powerline crosses the road overhead. Turn right and through a gate. This is the beginning or the Righter Mine trail (green markers). Follow the trail up the powerline, passing a large glacial erratic on the right, the trail will enter the forest leaving the powerline soon after.The trail winds through the forest for 1 mile until it reaches a forest road that runs along Beaver Brook. Turn left here and follow this forest road for .8 miles. The Righter Mine trail ends near Meriden Road however, just before reaching that point is a well defined unmarked trail used by mountain bikers. It is a sharp left turn off the forest road. About 50 yeards in the trail passes an old rusted out car.This unmarked trail is easy to follow and has several areas with orange tape tied on trees to mark the way. 1.2 miles in, this trail passes a newly formed small Beaver dam. In another .6 miles, this trail rejoins the Righter Mine trail. Turn right and follow back out to the gravel road and parking lot.
