Beach Glen Loop via Wildcat Ridge

This hike is within Wildcat Ridge Wilderness Management Area, south of Farny State Park. From the Splitrock Reservoir parking lot, turn right and cross the Splitrock Dam. Just past the Dam is a small emergency vehicle parking area. The Wildcat Ridge Trailhead is on the left side of this parking area..Follow the Wildcat Ridge Trail (yellow markers) up t the powerline and continue to the left down toward Beaver Brook. The trail crosses a stream and turns right to follow the stream. Continue for one more mile where the trail reaches Upper Hibernia road. Turn left on the road and in a short distance the Wildcat Ridge Trail re-enters the forest along a rail trail.In one miles the trail comes out onto Upper Hibernia road then re-enters on the right for a short distance until again crosses the road for the last time. The Wildcat Ridge Trail ends at a forest road after a total of 2.5 miles and a junction with the Hibernia Brook Trail (orange markers).Cross the forest road with a gate on the left and follow the Hibernia Brook Trail for 1 mile, crossing the Four Birds Trail (white markers) and ending at Hawks Watch viewpoint. Turn back to the Four Birds Trai and turn left. Follow for a short distance until reaching a connector trail (red markers) on the left. Follow this connector trail down a steep hill until a trail junction with the Beach Glen Trail (blue markers).Follow the Beach Glen Trail for three miles where it will end at a small trailhead parking lot along side the Hibernia Brook. Here this loop rejoins the Hibernia Brook Trail and continues for 1.5 miles and the junction with the Wildcat Ridge trail. Turn left back onto the Wildcat Ridge Trail and re-trace the 2.5 miles back to the Splitrock Reservior parking lot.
