Description
The Lower McAlpine Creek Greenway starts off of Pineville-Matthews Road (NC51), travels south under I-485, and concludes at Johnston Road at the intersection with Four Mile Creek Greenway. From the trailhead on Johnston Road, follow the short paved access road. To stay on McAlpine Creek Greenway, turn right to go under the Johnston Road Bridge (a left turn will take you onto Four Mile Creek Greenway). After the underpass, the greenway follows McAlpine Creek for approximately 1.4 miles before going under I-485. There are several neighborhood access points along this portion of the greenway. After I-485, the greenway circles a neighborhood before swinging back around to the north to follow McMullen Creek. The greenway goes under I-485 again and then continues for approximately 1.4 miles before ending at Pineville-Matthews Road. Parking is available for the McAlpine Creek Greenway trailhead at 11823 Johnston Road, Charlotte, NC 28226. There is a second parking lot located at 404 Vista Grande Circle, Charlotte, NC 28226. Parking is available for the McMullen Creek Greenway trailhead at 8135 Pineville-Matthews Rd, Charlotte, NC 28226.
