Description
From the park entrance, follow signs for the trailhead. When you arrive at the parking lot, both the yellow and blue trails begin on the same side with signs designating which is which. Mountain bikers go clockwise on both loops. If you choose to hike counterclockwise, beware the trail markings are much harder to follow. The trail is also marked (roughly) every quarter mile when going clockwise. The trail begins with and easy descent near a river and over a bridge, but makes a turn into thicker forested area with many, short hills but no large climbs. The trail is not too technical, but is more technical than the blue trail. Mountain bikers also use this trail so be aware that people will come up quickly behind you and the trail is extremely narrow in some places meaning you'll have to jump into the brush to allow them to pass. Don't forget to bring bug spray in the summer. Overall, a good trail in close proximity to metro Detroit. Combine this loop with the blue loop to make a longer 14-mile day.
