Start at the Trapps parking area after the bridge on 44/55. From the parking area, hike back towards the bridge, go up a set of steps and continue to the left. Do not cross the bridge for this hike. There is a three-way intersection where the Trapps Undercliff Trail and the Overcliff trail meet up. There is a large flat-topped boulder sitting in the middle of this intersection. The Trapps Overcliff Trail goes left.
The Overcliff Trail provides views of the small rift formed by Coxing Creek, as well as the Dicke Barr Wilderness Area. These areas are included in your day pass to Mohonk Preserve if you want to continue adventuring after this hike. This side of the trail has more flora and fauna and is usually a bit more quiet than the Undercliff Trail.
