Description
This section starts at Juniper Lane and Park Road 36. There is a small church in between the two roads. Once you get into the trail, the tread is similar to the previous section (Lavilla Road to Redbird); rocky, somewhat wide, with several line choices. This section has one of the more sustained climbs with a few switchbacks. After a couple turns, you'll come to a somewhat narrow and rough climb followed by one more switchback and then a final push to an intersection. You should see a trail map on a sign once you get there. Turning left will get you closer to the peak, turning right (as mapped) heads around to the north side of the hill. The climbing is pretty much complete, with very short sections here and there, but for the most part it is a gradual descent down to the South D & D trailhead. You'll come to the intersection of the Johnson Peak Loop: South Side trail, stay right.
