There and Back
The hike from Lake Louise to the summit of Mount St. Piran is a challenging and rewarding journey in Banff National Park. Beginning near the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise, the route follows the Lake Louise shoreline before ascending the forested Lake Agnes Trail. Hikers pass Mirror Lake and can take the right fork to reach the scenic Lake Agnes and its historic tea house.
From Lake Agnes, the path transitions onto the Little Beehive Trail. After approximately 0.25 miles, a marked junction on the left guides hikers onto the Mount St. Piran Trail. The trail climbs steadily through subalpine forest before emerging above the treeline onto a series of rocky switchbacks across the mountain's open slopes.
The summit of Mount St. Piran offers panoramic views of Lake Louise, Lake Agnes, Mirror Lake, and the surrounding peaks of the Bow Valley. The descent follows the same route back to the trailhead, totaling approximately 7.3 miles round-trip with about 3,450 feet of elevation gain.
