This trail originates from the parking area located immediately after you cross the dam. There is trail signage as well as a restroom and shower located at the parking area.In the first .5 mile, you follow along the shore of the lake which offers several picturesque views. After you turn west, you remain in tree cover for the rest of the hike. The trail winds and twists, eventually crossing the park road and then leading into the westernmost portion of the park. This part of the property is covered with a variety of brushy undergrowth, including some stands of cedar, as well as a fairly young tree population that does offer plenty of shade, but lacks many larger trees. The 3-foot wide trail is nicely maintained and is easily navigable. Like other trails in this park, the ground consists mostly of sand which exposes many small roots throughout the trail, so pay attention to foot placement. The terrain is mostly flat with some very low grade rise and fall. This is a multi-use trail so pay attention for cyclists. Parts of the trail follow the property boundary so pay attention to all trail markers to ensure that you remain on trail. Overall, it is a very nice hike that gives you the chance to do a bit longer hike than most state parks in the area accommodate.
