The Blue Goose Trail is a 1-mile out-and-back trail through the Sabine National Wildlife Refuge from a parking area on Highway-27 to the West Cove of Calcasieu Lake. The asphalt path parallels Shell Canal as it winds between brush that provides habitat for songbirds before eventually coming to a turnaround point with views of Calcasieu Lake. The trail is flat and ADA accessible. The parking lot and trailhead area has an observation deck with a mounted telescope for viewing the wildlife refuge, along with a small shade pavilion and informational kiosks. The trail is open from sunrise until sunset. There is no cost to use the trail. There are no amenities located at the trail. Blue Goose Trail is a featured area of interest on the Creole Nature Trail.
