Description
The trailhead is on the west side of the highway and slowly climbs through thick conifer forests and open muskegs. The trail is mostly flat and smooth with boardwalks over marshy parts, but has some steeper sections with exposed rocks and roots. At one mile, the trail connects to the Iditarod National Historic Trail-Meridian section (Meridian Trail), at which point you can go left for a half mile to Grayling Lake or right for a quarter mile to Meridian Lake, which has a secluded camping area an additional quarter mile around the lake.
