Swamp Canyon Connecting Trail

From the left side of the Swamp Canyon overlook pullout (about 5 miles south of the visitor center), join the marked Swamp Canyon Connecting Trail when it branches from the Sheep Creek Connecting Trail. After the right-hand turn onto the Swamp Canyon Connecting Trail, you'll be heading south before immediately dropping below the canyon rim. Thread between high stone towers in a forested valley. The grade eases as you approach the canyon floor. This trail ends at a junction with the Under-the-Rim Trail very near the Right Fork Swamp Canyon backcountry campsite. From here, Swamp Canyon Butte is visible to the south. If you're planning to make a loop that combines Sheep Creek Connecting Trail, Under-the-Rim Trail and the Swamp Canyon Connecting Trail, the preferred direction is clockwise.
