Maze Rock Art Site Trail

The Maze Rock Art Site Trail is a short, approximately 1.3-mile round-trip hike leading to a panel of Anasazi petroglyphs etched into a rock outcropping. Located in Northern Arizona just off House Rock Valley Road, the trail is named for the prominent "Maze" petroglyph situated on the upper-left corner of the panel. These ancient petroglyphs date back approximately 1,000 years. The trail begins with a brief uphill climb of about 160 feet via switchbacks. The path is well-defined and relatively free of loose rock. After the initial climb, the trail flattens out as it crosses a small sagebrush basin, ending with a final 100-yard uphill climb to the rock art site. The petroglyph panel faces west, receiving direct afternoon sunlight and remaining in shade during the morning. This trail is located near other regional points of interest, including Catstair Canyon, The Toadstools, Coyote Buttes, and White Pocket. Please be sure not to touch the petroglyphs.
