The trail begins with slight incline that follows a railroad grad for most of the way. You'll follow flat rock run (creek) for about 2/3 of the trail. This creek runs high in the spring and provides views of some beautiful smaller waterfalls. about 3 miles into the trail you'll cross flat rock run after which the trail will begin to ascend steeply. This portion of the hike may be considered strenuous but will only require about 3/4 of a mile before it levels out again into some beautiful Birch, Red Spruce, and Hemlock groves. The southern terminus of this trail serves as the western terminus of Roaring Plains Trail.
