Description
You can reach the beginning of this route by gaining over 1000 ft using the Mile-Hi Neighborhood streets and stopping at the end of Linx Way. Here, there are a few parking spots off the road, but there are currently no restrictions on parking along the street. From the trailhead, the route goes through upper portions of the treeline and you emerge above treeline at the Mile-Hi Saddle. From the saddle, head east along the ridgeline. Ahead past the first significant peak will be a peak with a pole visible on top. This is a 4 foot pole sticking out of the ground that typically has the Alaska flag on it at a point called Tucker Mountain. When you reach a small saddle with a clear view of the route up to Tucker Mountain, you can choose the lower trail at the saddle to circuit around Tucker to reach a saddle before starting the ascent to the a false summit northeast of Tucker. From the false summit, you'll drop a hundred feet or so before the final ascent.Care should be taken on the middle section and the final ascent when snow is present. I've personally triggered a small avalanche on the north slopes of the final ascent that ran all the way to the valley floor. This route has an intermediate/difficult rating for its steep grade.
