This is popular route into Los Penasquitos Canyon, particularly for mountain bikers who have created a number of jumps on the way down. Nonetheless, it is also a nice route for hikers. At the top, it is tree lined. Midway down at Duck Pond hikers can choose to cross over to the parallel track just east of the main line so as to avoid bike traffic.
