The Phillips Pass Trail is located just west of Jackson, Wyoming. To access the trailhead follow Highway 22 up toward Teton Pass, watching for an easy to miss gravel side road to the right. This road (FR 30972) is the trailhead for the Philips Pass Trail. Park alongside the shoulder being sure not to block the road. The Phillips Pass Trail is commonly used to access the Teton Crest Trail, but is also a great standalone hike. The trail begins as the Ski Lake Trail which parallels just above the forest road. The trail soon splits and becomes the Phillips Pass Trail. You'll contour around the mountainsides for a while, even losing a bit of elevation before curving toward the west and beginning the climb up to the pass. The trail here may be a bit overgrown but is quite beautiful. You'll eventually top out at the pass where there is a sign marking a trail junction. The mountain views from here are also quite nice. Unless you choose to continue further, turn back and retrace your steps back to the trailhead.
