Description
This is a very convenient hike if you're staying at the Grey Cliffs Campground, which is the only campground that accepts reservations in Great Basin National Park. It is a short walk from Loop A of the campsite, though there's a small parking area as well if you drive to this destination. The trail is very clear and easy to follow, though it is a little overgrown with plant life at a couple points. Because this is in a remote section of the park, you will see very few hikers on the trail. From the outset, you will walk over a bridge that is above Pole Creek, which you will hike alongside for a large portion of the trail. The sound of flowing water adds a nice ambiance to the trek. A variety of wildflower species can be seen sporadically along the trail during late spring/early summer. At the end of the trail you can either continue on to Baker Lake Trail and/or Timber Creek Loop Trail, which lead to a backcountry campsite, or turn around and return the way you came. The trail doesn't conclude at a major point of interest such as a lake or summit, but there are plenty of sights to see along the way that make this hike well worth your time and effort.
