Description
This trail connects the White Rock Lake Trail with the North Dallas area via a double wide paved multi-use path. Because of the length of this trail and nature of it's course, it allows for endless starting/stopping points. For the purpose of this description it will begin at the northeast corner of the White Rock Lake Trail. As you head north on the trail, you travel through a heavily wooded area that gives you a feeling of isolation as you wander in and out of large stands of old growth forest, as well as weaving back and forth across the creek. This is by far the most scenic portion of the trail and it extends for the first few miles until you reach Northwood Park near the intersection of Greenville Ave. and Royal Lane. From this point on, the trail widens a bit and travels through neighborhoods and local parks passing several spots to stop and enjoy a refreshing drink from a water fountain or utilize the restrooms. The trail continues north and passes under Highway 75 as you travel on the back side of a business development and then on up the creek to its terminus north of I-635 near Hillcrest and Alpha Road. Overall, this is a nice trail that sees moderate to heavy traffic depending on time of day/week/year. It is a truly multi-use trail as you'll likely encounter recreational cyclists, commuters, joggers, dog walkers, and families. A nice place to get outdoors locally.
