Description
Box Car Beach is located where Eagle Creek and the San Lorenzo River meet in Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park. It is from this junction that you can take Eagle Creek Trail, which follows the creek upgrade where it connects near Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park Campground on Pine Trail. Take River Trail from the park office for a direct route here, or use Pipeline Road to cross this trail not far from the trailhead. A serene forest with towering redwoods, luscious green ferns and clover that line the path awaits your arrival. This trail is well marked and fairly easy going. The last third of the way is where you will find most of the elevation change. This ascent takes you out of the redwood groves and into pine and mountain chaparral where it eventually connects with Pine Trail. Take this trail for some great views of the park, or to continue to the campground.
