Description
The Bobcat !Ridge Trail starts at the junction with Riverside Trail and winds south through the forest. Immediately after the start of the trail, Pine Ridge Trail splits off to the east. Continue winding south on Bobcat !Ridge Trail over a few ups and downs. About 0.6 miles in, the trail levels off and turns to head west. About one mile in, the trail turns to again head south/southwest. It intersects Whitetail Trail and Pine Ridge Trail, then crosses the road twice before ending at the intersection of Yaupon Trail and Coyote Road. Much of the trail is composed of a deep fine sandy soil that makes hiking difficult. These sandy areas are broken up by sections of large cobblestone and loose gravel. Bobcat !Ridge Trail winds through a combination of post oak forest and old pastures. The eastern half of the trail follows along the northern ridge of a steep valley where the Lost Pines find their refuge. There are a few glimpses across the 80 foot deep valley revealing the views that give the park its name: "The Roughs".
