Loop
The Scenic Overlook Trail (red trail) connects to the Lost Pines Loop (purple trail) to make a nice 6.2 miles loop. There is some fire and flood damaged terrain, but it is not unappealing. The trails are well marked and maintained and the color-coded paths are easy to follow. The wooden bridges have all been rebuilt and the sandy/rocky trail is clear of fallen trees. There is a nice mix of surfaces and terrain. There is not much shade so bring your sunscreen and lots of water.
A wildfire in 2011 destroyed 96% of the forest, but it has been replanted.
