There and Back
The trailhead for this route is located at Lightning Lakes. The highlight of this trail is a meadow of larches shortly before the summit, where the larches turn a brilliant golden color in late September to early October. These larches are the furthest west of their range in Southwestern BC. There is a short talus field for 30-45 minutes before the summit. In the middle of this, there is a branch of trail that goes towards Windy Joe Mountain (Frosty Mountain Loop Trail), and this can be used to turn the trail into a loop. The summit cairn and elevation marker are the end of the maintained trail and where nearly all people end their outing. The true summit is actually a 45-60 minute return trip, with exposed areas and scrambling.
All Clear
Absolutely unreal hike up to the summit of Frosty. beautiful views of glaciated peaks in the state of Washington to the south and endless mountains around.
