Kanarra Creek Canyon

Start by hiking out of the parking lot on a well-marked trail up an obvious staircase. At the top of this, you'll find the ranger station where someone generally is checking permits.After this, follow the dirt road uphill before crossing the stream a few times on a well-marked trail before reaching the Kanarra slot canyon.This is where the trail becomes more challenging because you have to walk in the flowing water. Hiking poles and neoprene socks can be helpful during this section, but are not required. You definitely need sturdy shoes with good traction.Hike up canyon to a stunning, well-built staircase marking Kanarra Falls at 1.6 miles. Climb the staircase into the upper canyon where more boulder crawling and rock hopping will lead you to a natural amphitheater., This makes a good location to relax, have lunch and turn around. You can also hike a little higher up to a second waterfall, which generally but not always has water flowing over it. Beyond this waterfall is private property, so hiking past the past the second waterfall is off limits.Return on the path you came in on. Luckily working your way downstream is a little easier than the trek up!
