Description
The "Blue Dot" trail is one of 14 mapped trails within Washington Crossing State Park, Titusville, NJ. The trail starts at the northwest corner of the Knox Grove Day Use Area. There is plenty of parking in the area, some immediately adjacent to the trailhead. Park at the "top" of the loop of road surrounding the area. The trail is well marked and repeatedly intersects other trails in the park, passing through many different types of landscape from open woods to reclaimed farmland. There are no particular obstacles other than one fairly steep, but very short creek crossing. Many sections of the trail can get extremely muddy with standing water after periods of heavy rain. The trail ends at the cemetery adjacent to the Titusville United Methodist Church on Church Rd, Titusville. While the trail itself is a "there and back again" trail, it is very easy to connect with several of the parks other trails to create variations on loops through the park. A short hike across Church Rd at the end of the trail connects you to the trails of Fiddler's Creek Preserve, just north of the park. Fiddler's Creek is immediately adjacent to and connects with the trails at the Ted Stiles Preserve at Baldpate Mountain. It is very easy to link the three areas together to create many miles of connected trails.
