Description
Hike through hardwood forest, open meadow, and spring wetlands. Beautiful wild flowers and native plants in bloom in spring. Hardwoods provide beautiful fall colors. This section of trail is the more developed side of the park - the trail meanders near campgrounds, along the border of parklands in sight of housing, and nearest to the busy County Y road. Recommended more as a way to extend a hike that includes the forest preserve and less developed land on the east side of the park road, and less as a standalone hike.
