The Vista Nature Loop is a mile long trail located in the Richard Bong State Recreation Area near Kansasville, Wisconsin. The parking area for this trail is located off County Highway B just north of Wisconsin Highway 142 about 3miles miles west of Wisconsin Highway 75. There is a covered picnic shelter near the trailhead. The Vista Nature Loop runs through a thick hardwood forest making it an excellent trail for sighting woodland bird species. The trail is a wide mowed path and sees less traffic than other trails in the park. Around the half way point of the loop there is a small pond. There is a view point near the middle of the southern portion of the loop. From this vista more of the forest can be seen as well as Highway 142. There are interpretative signs along the trail. The trail is fairly flat dropping about 65 feet from the trailhead to the pond. During the summer months, mosquitoes can be quite an annoyance. Be aware that traffic noise from Highway 142 can be heard when hiking this trail. The Vista Nature Loop is closed during the winter.Dogs, horses, and bikes are not allowed of the Vista Nature Loop. Since trail is located in the Richard Bong State Recreation Area, which is part of the Wisconsin state park system, a fee must be paid to enter the park. A day use or annual permit can be purchased at the park office. There is also a self-service permit station by the parking area.A map of all the hiking trails at the Richard Bong State Recreation Area can be found here.
