As of 7/31/2018, a portion of the Garibaldi Lake Trail is closed, and signs route you via Taylor Meadows (the GPS track shown here).
Path Type
There and Back
This is a popular hike and parking can fill up. It also has good elevation gain, so go early to avoid the summer heat and get a parking spot. No parking permit is required. There are pit toilets and an information kiosk with map at the trailhead. The trail is obvious, and all junctions are well signed with destinations and distances (in kilometers). The trail climbs steadily up the canyon but all in the shade. You encounter your first switchback at about mile 1.5. You progress through many more as you gain over 3,000 ft. up towards Taylor Meadows. Note that as of 7/31/2018, the Taylor Bridge is under construction and all hikers are routed to Taylor Meadows. At Taylor Meadows, follow the signs to Garibaldi Lake (~2km). Views of the lake appear just before the trail descends to the shore. At the lake there are stunning views of the mountains and glaciers. Go for a swim... you earned it!
