Description
Navajo Springs Trail is a 2.75-mile out-and-back spur trail that connects the Arizona National Scenic Trail (AZT) to the small mountain community/resort town of Mormon Lake. This singletrack trail goes through pine and aspen forest and crosses rocky terrain. With minimal elevation gain and loss this trail is accessible for hikers, trail runners, mountain bikers, and equestrians.Navajo Springs Trail is well marked and easy to follow. It features Navajo Spring, a seasonal spring in a tranquil meadow as well as opportunities for wildlife and bird watching amongst a beautiful forested landscape. The trail is relatively flat and easily accessible. This trail can be used in either direction. For thru-hikers it provides easy access to the beautiful mountain community of Mormon Lake Village. At Mormon Lake you will find privately owned cabins and RV spaces, Mormon Lake Lodge offers cabin rentals, camping, RV parking, showers, and laundry facilities. Visitors can also enjoy the amenities of a bar, restaurant, store, and post office. Guests of Mormon Lake Lodge can enjoy this trail as a day hike or to gain access to the longer Arizona National Scenic Trail (trail maps are available at the general store for guests staying at the Mormon Lake Lodge). GETTING THEREThe trail entrance at Mormon Lake is the easiest car accessible location. WATERConcrete water troughs are usually well stocked, however, all water along the trail must be treated before consumption.ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Mormon Lake and Mormon Lake Lodge: https://www.mormonlakelodge.com/Arizona National Scenic Trail: www.aztrail.org
