Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge - Burford Lake

The trailhead starts at the small parking lot off of 49. The trail is well marked and maintained to the top of the overlook of the lake where the official trail ends. From the overlook, you can either head back on the marked trail or continue around the lake and loop back. Cactus is native here so watch your step, especially if taking kids and dogs. If continuing on, cross the creek, there are multiple rocks in the creek that can be used to cross. If you're feeling a little crazy, kick your shoes off and cool your feet. Work your way on a slight incline after the creek crossing. Stop by the other side of the dam from the overlook for another scenic view.
