Ouzel Pool is a small waterfall with a deep pool beneath it. The pool is popular with swimming because the creek is geothermally heated making the pool between 70-80 degrees. It's not hot by any means but much warmer than other water in the area making it a great place to relax in the water after a long hike to Union Falls. This side route adds about a mile to any Union Falls hike. There is also a perfect rock platform for jumping into the pool. It's also often called scout pool because the area is close to Camp Loll and is very popular for scout troops to make the hike. About a half mile before reaching Union Falls, there is a fork in the trail. Take a left here to get to Ouzel Pool. When we visited there was no sign but the trail was very well defined. Take the trail 0.3 miles to the pool. It's a blast and is really a pretty area. You can jump from the rocks above into the pool but be sure to test the depth first. This isn't a spot you want someone getting hurt. Return back to the Union Falls trail. The trail ends at the falls.
