Government Island Trails

All campsites are along the shore and allow for pull out for kayakers. If motoring in, we have found the best access with current water levels is along the Government Bay end of the island. There is a sandy landing and tie off trees in abundance.This route uses a variety of family friendly trails, but be aware that there will be no blazes to assist with navigation. Since the island is fairly small and self contained, it's difficult to get truly lost here, even without blazes. There are two privies at the northern end of the island if needed, and there are many great campsites and picnic tables available. This loop is a great way to explore the majority of the island, and can be taken as a day trip or as an overnight.
