Jackson Trail - Mid State Trail Loop

Travel along the ridge of the mountain on Jackson Trail, taking in scenic views of Rothrock State Forest. Make sure you stop and look out at the viewpoints, and enjoy the differing landscape of windswept pine and rocky outcroppings. A right turn takes you onto the MST - Section 8 and a steep downhill hike until you reach the quiet valley floor. Enjoy the hike through the quiet, forested valley before you finish with a steep uphill to the parking lot.The downhill portion of the trail has loose rocks, and it is easy to lose sight of the trail blazes if you are hiking on a fresh snow. The uphill climb is grueling, so make sure you stop to rest and enjoy the views.
