Description
A short and sweet hike located in Limekiln State Park, the Hare Creek Trail follows the easternmost of three canyons that ascend the flanks of 5,000-foot Lone Peak. Offering a quiet redwood hike along Hare Creekas cascading pools, this clover-lined trail heads right at the Hare Creek-Limekiln Trail junction and continues through a steep walled canyon until the trail ends at a larger pool. The Hare Creek Trail is easily combined with the Limekiln Trail, Limekiln Falls Trail, or both, for a longer hike. Access to Hare Creek is from the Limekiln Trailhead, located beyond the park's entrance station at the back of the state park campground. There is day use parking within the park; for a free but less convenient option, park in the pullout on Highway 1 near the top of the entrance road.
