Description
Blackhawk (501) Trail makes an approximately 11-mile segement of the Colorado Trail through San Juan National Forest. It corresponds with CT - Segment 26: Bolam Pass Road to Hotel Draw Road. This hike features colorful geology, verdant hillsides, and lush conifer forests. There are flower-filled valleys and scenic vistas with expansive views of the San Juan range in all directions. This is an alpine trail that runs between 12,000 feet and 10,200 feet elevation throughout its length. Blackhawk intersects with some other trails and offers access to Blackhawk Mountain (12,648') and Section Point Peak (11,940'). The trail can be completed as a challenging day hike or extended overnight as a backpacking trip.
