Valley View Drive

Valley View Drive is a paved road through the South Mountain Reservation that is closed to vehicular traffic. It's lined by trees on both sides, and it is quite scenic when the trees and vegetation are grown in. It's a moderate but continuous incline for the first half, and then it flattens out. You can access Valley View Drive from the parking lot across from the Orange Reservoir Loop. From there, you can hike south for about a mile. The road runs alongside Cherry Lane, and it allows you to traverse south through the reservation without dealing with cars. At the southern end of Valley View Drive, there are steps that lead to a steep hill opening up at the corner of Cherry Lane and South Orange Avenue. From there, you can continue south on Brookside Drive. On Sundays, Brookside Drive is closed to vehicular traffic until noon. It is a popular place to run, walk, and bike. Valley View Drive also connects to some other trails in South Mountain Reservation.
